UDAIPUR

It’s known as the Venice of East. It is also called the city of lakes. The Lake Palace on Jag Niwas Island in the middle of Pichola Lake is the finest example of its architectural and cultural explosion. The grand City Palace on the banks of the lake compliments the palace along with the Monsoon Palace (Sajjan Garh) on the hill above. Udaipur is also the center for performing arts, crafts, and its famed miniature paintings. The Shilpgram Festival is a center of attraction during the season. Maharana Udai Singh II founded Udaipur in 1568 after his citadel Chittorgarh was sacked by Mughal Emperor Akbar. The legends say that Udai Singh was guided by a holy man meditating on the hill near Pichola Lake to establish his capital on this very spot. Surrounded by Aravali Ranges, forests, and lakes this palace was less vulnerable than Chittorgarh.

PUSHKAR

Is a very important pilgrim center of Hindu Pushkar, for one visit to this holy place in a lifetime, is highly prescribed. Brahma forms the great Hindu trilogy of Brahma, Vishnu, and Shiva, each symbolizing the lifecycle of birth, preservation, and destruction. Brahma the creator is depicted as of four bearded heads and four hands each holding a book of Vedas. His vehicle is the swan and his consort is Savitri. According to the legend, Pushkar means a pond created by a flower, was formed when Brahma dropped a lotus flower on the earth to determine a place for his yagna, a holy sacrifice. Pushkar is a much-loved tourist destination, many who visit there just fall in love with the peace and overstay. Situated on the edge of the desert, it is separated from Ajmer by the Nag Parbat. Despite its high tourist profile, the town maintains some mystical charm.

JAIPUR

Rajasthan’s beautiful Pink City Jaipur was the stronghold of a clan of rulers whose three hill forts and a series of palaces in the city are important attractions. Known as the Pink City because of the color of the stone used exclusively in the walled city, Jaipur’s bazaar sells embroidered leather shoes, blue pottery, tie, dye scarves, and other exotic wares. Western Rajasthan itself forms a convenient circuit, in the heart of the Thar Desert which has shaped its history, lifestyles, and architecture.
